TABLE OF HOPE
A co-created art piece for dialogues of hope
”We should sit at the same table, partake of life together and listen to one another.” This is the core message of our international Creatual called Table of Hope,
This project was first realized in Cape Town, South Africa, in 2014 together with a group of Kaospilot students from Denmark and Switzerland in collaboration with locals. The project’s second stop was in Ghana (2016), and with further stations planned in Brazil, the US, China and other countries it aims at stirring up good dialogue across the world – one table, one place at a time.
Handwritten hopes, dreams and thoughts of everyday people and passers by from all wind directions are sealed in the table, on strips of wood glued together in a meaningful table top. The process of collaboratively building this very concrete object brings topics to the surface that might not be as tangible in everyday life. It encourages dialogue and serves as a symbolic statement of hope. One piece of wood from the first table is taken off to travel on to another country to spread the word of dialogue by creating a new table.
